IN A RUT OR ON A ROLL?

Join us for this immersive creative writing workshop


WHAT TO EXPECT

  • No more than 15 experienced writers will have the opportunity to develop content, create community, and share knowledge during this workshop
  • A large portion of our time together will be dedicated to writing with the goal of furthering the author’s submitted new concept
  • Two session will feature guest speakers: one focused on mental health and creativity and another on practical next step toward publishing and/or production
  • Two sessions will have 2 actors for private reading sessions with the authors
  • Writers will receive a modest stipend as well as coffee/tea/snacks during the workshop

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

  • Playwrights, stand-ups, one person shows, lyrists, musical book writers, and any other author whose work is scripted / written for the stage
  • Is 21 years of age or older
  • Has at least one completed work
  • Has a concept or outline of a new work for this series
  • is able to attend all workshop session

Submission Requirements: 10-15 pages, synopsis and character outline of a completed work, a one-page artist bio, and a concept / outline of work for this series

Writers will be notified by August 31, 2026, of their participation status

OVATION LEVEL – $1750

  • All benefits of the Encore Level, plus
  • Five one-use parking passes for the State Theatre’s parking deck

STAR PERFORMER LEVEL – $2500

  • All benefits of the Encore Level, plus
  • Donor acknowledgement on brass plaque in the Theatre lobby
  • Parking privileges for all shows on the Theatre’s parking deck

SHOW STOPPER LEVEL – $5000+

  • All benefits of the Encore Level, plus
  • Donor acknowledgement on brass plaque in the Theatre lobby
  • Parking privileges for all shows on the Theatre’s parking deck
  • Same-Seat Seating for all shows (subject to availability)
Memberships can be renewed annually, or purchased in two-year increments.
Memberships purchased during Member Sales in August or December will expire on July 31st or November 30th of the following year, respectively. Memberships purchased during Public Sales in August or December will expire on September 1st or January 1st of the following year, respectively. All other membership dates/months will expire after one year. Memberships cover one Season Sale in August, on Mid-Season Sale in December and shows that go on sale throughout the year. (Excludes Outside Promoter shows.)
Limit 10 tickets per membership per performance during Members Only Sales periods unless otherwise noted. On the rare occasion that the show’s producer requires additional space for program copy, the Membership listing may not appear.
