Cedar Crest College

Enrollment: Fall 2026
Cedar Crest College is pleased to offer one $1,000 Scholarship in Dance or Theatre to a junior or senior student attending a school that participates in the 2025 FREDDY© Awards Program. The scholarship will be awarded to students who have applied to Cedar Crest College after March 1, 2025, and who have been both academically accepted to Cedar Crest College and involved onstage or backstage at their high school. For more information, please contact Roxanne Amico at rtamico@cedarcrest.edu A letter of recommendation from their high school drama teacher must be submitted for consideration by April 30, 2025.

Centenary University

Enrollment: Fall 2025 OR Fall 2026
Centenary University is pleased to offer four $5000.00 Scholarships in Dance or Theatre (renewable for four years) to a junior or senior student attending a school that participates in the 2025 FREDDY Awards Program. The scholarship will be awarded to students who have applied to Centenary University and have been both academically accepted to Centenary University and involved onstage or backstage at their high school. A letter of recommendation from the high school drama teacher must be submitted for consideration by April 30th. DeSales University

Enrollment: Fall 2025
DeSales University is pleased to offer (4) $2,500 scholarship opportunities (renewable for 3 years for a total of $10,000 to senior theatre students attending a high school which participates in the 2025 FREDDY© Awards Program. Scholarships will only be awarded to students who have applied to DeSales after April 1, 2025, and who have been both academically accepted to DeSales University and artistically accepted into the DeSales Theatre program. East Stroudsburg University

Enrollment: Fall 2025
The East Stroudsburg University Theatre Department is pleased to offer two $1000 scholarship opportunities to Senior Theatre Students attending a high school which participates in the 2025 FREDDY Awards program. This award in non-renewable. Scholarships will be awarded based on achievements in Musical Theatre Performance and/or Tech/Stage Management/Design for Fall 2025 enrollment. Please apply by April 30th.

Recipients must have demonstrated a commitment to the theatre program at ESU along with clearly indicating the intention of pursuing a career in theatre professionally and/or academically. Recipients must be enrolled full time and must participate (or apply to participate) in at least one theatre main stage per semester. Applicants must submit a 250-500 word cover letter explaining their connection and commitment to the performing arts.

Enrollment: Fall 2026
Muhlenberg College is pleased to offer one $5,000 Talent Grant Scholarship in Dance or Theatre (renewable for up to four years) to a student attending a school that participates in the 2025 FREDDY Awards Program. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who applies to Muhlenberg College by February 15, 2026, and is both academically and artistically accepted into the Theatre or Dance program.

You are automatically considered for this scholarship if you are auditioning for Muhlenberg College AND are a student at a FREDDY© Awards participating school. Be sure to schedule an audition slot before February 15, 2026 to be considered for Fall 2026.

Northampton Community College In Memory of Bill Mutimer

Enrollment: Fall 2025
Northampton Community College is pleased to offer a $1,500 scholarship, renewable for a second year, to students attending a high school which participates in the 2025 FREDDY© Awards Program. Students applying DO NOT have to be theatre majors, BUT they must plan to enroll at NCC for the Fall 2025 semester and be registered for 6 or more credit hours. The award recipient must notify the NCC Scholarships Department when they have registered for Fall 2025 classes.

West Virginia University

Enrollment: Fall 2026
We are excited to return to the FREDDY Awards this year with the College of Creative Arts Scholarship opportunity! This award from the West Virginia University School of Theatre & Dance is presented to a student who will begin their studies in Fall of 2026. The award, when combined with other funds from WVU, will equal the cost of tuition in 2026. To be eligible, a student must be attending a FREDDY participating school, but they do not need to be cast in or otherwise affiliated with the production being reviewed for the FREDDYs. The application will be available at Freddy Awards | WVU College of Creative Arts and Media | West Virginia University on March 1st and will close on May 10th. Auditions will be held live at the State Theatre in Easton, PA on Tuesday, May 20th at 2:00pm.

Air Products Education and Community Impact Award

The Air Products Education and Community Impact FREDDY© Award is given to a school that creatively connects its musical production within the classroom or within the community. Thanks to a generous donation from the Air Products Foundation, the school that is awarded the Education and Community Impact FREDDY© Award will also receive a $1,500 grant to be directed to the school’s musical theater program.

We know you do work beyond the stage to understand the intricacies of the material and carry the lessons with you beyond the performance, and we want to hear about it. Thank you for submitting, we look forward to reading your application.

Civic Theatre of Allentown Student Director/Choreographer Internship

Summer 2025
The Civic Theatre Outstanding Student Director/Choreographer Award and Internship will be awarded to a student director or choreographer who has an interest in a directing career or avocation and has shown not only aptitude but enthusiasm for the art of directing or choreographing. If interested, and available, the recipient may also work as an assistant director and/or choreographer on a production at Civic Theatre of Allentown. This award includes a $500 honorarium. While this is a self-nominating award, your application must be accompanied by a letter from your teacher/director answering the question “Why should this student be awarded the Directing/Choreography Internship?”

LV Advanced Media Student Achievement Award

For a student stage manager, theatre president, assistant director, music director, or any student in a leadership position within a production. Please note: student designers, set painters, and choreographers looking for recognition for their work will be considered for Outstanding Technical Contribution. This award is for those students who have gone above and beyond and were the leaders of a production backstage.

The Musik Makers

The Musik Makers is proud to offer one scholarship to their upcoming Acting Through Song Summer Intensive: In My Acting Era. This opportunity is open to students currently enrolled in a high school that participates in the 2025 FREDDY Awards and who were involved in their school’s musical production.

Summer 2025
Three-week full scholarship to Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Intensive! Choose any 3 weeks, or single class equivalent, during our summer program to the Ballet Guild studios in Bethlehem, PA. Dance classes offered include – Ballet, Conditioning, Tap, and Musical Theatre! Scholarships are available to all nominees for the FREDDY© Award for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Dancer. Nominees may choose three weeks out of the six-week program that best fits their schedule. Nominees will receive a certificate after nominations are announced with further details on how to redeem their scholarship.
